Brand identity for an international publishing group. 

Quarto is a publishing group and global leader in illustrated non-fiction publishing, marketing and selling books that set out to entertain, educate and enrich the lives of adults and children around the world.

Pentagram worked with Quarto to develop a new identity that would work across a range of external publishers, packagers, and book titles. In book production, ‘quarto’ refers to how a printed sheet is folded in four to make up an eight-page signature within a section-sewn book. The new identity uses this as a point of reference, drawing on the idea of wholes and fractions to deliver a geometric, colourful, and distinctive brand.
